It was the monks who created what today is known as Ribeira Sacra, a land infused
with Romance art- to such an extent that we have
the greatest concentration of Romanesque monasteries in all of Europe.
In the seventh century, hermits from all over Europe arrived at these pristine
shores, settling here and gradually evolving towards monkhood.

In the Ribeira Sacra, there are remains of more than
120 Romanesque churches and over 100 monasteries.
This extremely rich cultural heritage along with various castles and grandiose houses,
